vitamins

Hi Jeree, I was reading how to transplant my phalaenopsis but I did not find anything about when and how to use the vitamins(Dyna-Gro, orchid-pro) that came into the starter package.

How to use nutrients in Starter Set
by: The Hydroponics Guy

Hi Jeanie,

Our Starter Sets come with two types of nutrients; 1) KLN Rooting Concentrate and 2) Orchid Pro 7-8-6 nutrients.

KLN is a Rooting Concentrate that encourages new root growth and it's very beneficial when transferring plants from soil to hydroponics.
1. Soak pebbles in KLN solution (2 TBL per gallon of water).
2. Save soaking solution and use it to water new transplant.
3. Water new transplant with KLN Solution (only) for 4-6 weeks.
This will give the new roots a boost while resisting disease. (If you have other plants, they will also benefit from a KLN watering.)

After this initial period switch to Orchid-Pro 7-8-6, an excellent all purpose nutrient for orchids (good for houseplants too!). It's got all the good stuff in it that your plants need in a form they can use immediately. No complex chemistry needed. You can use Orchid-Pro every watering (1/4 - 1/2 tsp per gallon.)

Note: I've never seen an orchid die from lack of nutrients! Healthy growth always comes from the right mix of air, light, and water. If you don't get those right nothing else matters.

Good Growing,
JH
