Don't
be alarmed if you find insects on your plants. These little unwanted
guests sneak up on you when you're not looking and build huge
populations before you notice that they're even there. And they feed
ferocious appetites by feasting on your favorite plants!
In
nature plants and insects live together. Wind, rain, and natural
predators (other insects) keep populations in check.
Because these natural barriers aren't present in your home, a perfectly healthy plant that looked great
yesterday can be covered with creepy crawlers today. So when you suspect trouble on a plant you should
take action right away.
Insects
multiply quickly. One adult female can lay several MILLION eggs. In the
right conditions these eggs can hatch in 5 days or less.
Although
Nature has blessed us with hundreds of types of insects, there are only
four that you'll usually find on orchids.
